Dermaplaning in north scottsdale
If you’re looking for revitalized and refreshed skin, look no further than dermaplaning! Dermaplaning is one of my favorite treatments that I offer at Gameela Skin because after just 1 treatment my clients walk out with fresher looking skin that is not just visibly revitalized but is also ready to absorb their favorite skin care products. Does it get any better?
Dermaplaning is a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure that involves using a sterile surgical scalpel to gently remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, peach fuzz and other buildup that can rest on your skin.
Sometimes dermaplaning can be referred to as shaving, which is true in the sense that you’ll be removing any peach fuzz on your face, but the surgical scalpel also works hard to remove dead skin cell and increase cell turnover, which is something an at-home dermaplane, or facial razor, cannot do safely.
Dermaplaning has become a skincare sensation due to the almost immediate results that you can see post-treatment - and the fact that, when done well by a trusted professional, it is amazing for your skin! Dermaplaning works to remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz, improves circulation in the skin, and increases cell turnover resulting in your skin looking refreshed.
Dermaplaning works well with almost all skin types and can help combat common skincare concerns like acne, acne scarring, fine lines, discoloration, and dull skin. When done by a licensed esthetician with years of experience, like Gameela Skin {hi, it’s Nancy}, it is completely safe and can be an extremely effective way to refresh your skin and combat pesky skin concerns.
Every dermaplaning treatment at Gameela Skin begins with a brief chat about your skincare goals. I’ll make sure to note any sensitivities I should be aware of throughout the procedure, then I’ll make sure your skin is clean and prepared for the dermaplaning.
The procedure usually lasts about 45-minutes, and is a painless, even relaxing, process - some clients even fall asleep during the treatment. I’ll finish the treatment by using a combination of customized serums that will leave your skin feeling smooth and refreshed. You can repeat the procedure as often as every 3-4 weeks.
Looking for the TL/DR on dermaplaning? Here are the need to know facts about my favorite exfoliation option:
Dermaplaning is usually a relatively quick procedure: at Gameela Skin, a dermaplaning session lasts about 45 minutes. Since dermaplaning leaves the skin fresh and ready to absorb other skincare products, some clients choose to pair dermaplaning with a facial to achieve maximum results. This will lengthen the treatment, giving you just a bit more time to relax at the spa.
At Gameela Skin a dermaplaning treatment will cost $85.
Dermaplaning is an amazing skincare solution for all skin types. Whether you have oily skin, dry skin, or acne prone skin, dermaplaning is likely to provide noticeable benefits. For those who are dealing with cystic acne or have previously been on Accutane, I do not recommend dermaplaning as it may result in irritation of the skin.
Dermaplaning involves serious exfoliation, so it should not be done every week. I do recommend clients return every 3 weeks to every month, to help increase cell turnover, regularly remove dead skin cells, and keep shaving off peach fuzz that grows back in between treatments.
Dermaplaning has so many benefits, and it is the gift that keeps on giving because after every dermaplaning treatment your skin will be prepared to absorb other products even more, allowing them to penetrate the skin and work at their highest level.
Some of the main benefits from dermaplaning include:
Dermaplaning exfoliates on a deeper level than exfoliating face washes might be able to offer. The buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of your face may cause clogged pores and reduce your cell turnover. Exfoliation helps remove this buildup of oils and dead skin cells, leaving you with refreshed and more healthy looking skin.
Dermaplaning will gently shave off the fine vellus hair, or peach fuzz, that is present on your skin, leaving your skin especially smooth and allowing makeup to be applied to a clean, fresh surface. Hair removal during dermaplaning is easier and painless, making it a better option for hair removal than waxing, which can irritate sensitive areas of the skin like the upper lip and cheeks.
The process of dermaplaning acts as a stimulating massage for the face, which can increase collagen production and cell turnover. In addition to reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, this increased cell turnover and improved any hyperpigmentation or discoloration you may be combatting.
Dermaplaning requires very little aftercare! In the 24-48 hours following your dremaplane treatment, I recommend avoiding sun exposure AND any products containing acid or retinol as your skin will be more sensitive. Additionally, I recommend avoiding heavy makeup or irritating skincare products in the few hours post-dermaplaning.
The fine vellus hair that is removed during a dermaplaning treatment will usually grow back within 3-4 weeks, just in time for your next appointment! Dermaplaning does not change the color or texture of the hair as it grows back so you don’t need to worry about developing darker or thicker peach fuzz than was present before.
Whether you’re looking for a skincare solution to combat a specific skincare concern or you’re hoping for refreshed skin that will make your skincare routine even more effective, dermaplaning may be the exfoliation choice for you!
