Brow lamination is an amazing process that helps set your brows into place and leaves you with perfect brows for 4-6 weeks post-treatment. It’s essentially a perm for your brows, and uses a similar chemical process to set the hairs. While we all know post-perm-for-your-hair care is super important {and if you didn’t, Legally Blonde taught you} but aftercare for your brows post-lamination is just as essential to make sure your results will last. I’m breaking down the aftercare process, to help you make sure your perfectly fluffed brows will last until your next lamination appointment at Gameela Skin.

What is Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination is the not so secret service to fuller and fluffier eyebrows. A brow lamination appointment lasts a little over an hour and can easily be combined with a wax and a brow tint. Lamination involves using a permanent gel to disrupt the natural chemical structure of your eyebrow hairs, meaning they will no longer insist on one specific shape when you’re desperately trying to set them into another. This permanent gel leaves your brows open to shaping, which will be done to your liking. We  then set your brow hairs with a neutralizing cream. This cream repairs the bonds that the permanent gel breaks, and helps set the new direction in place.

The result is perfectly shaped brows that require little maintenance to look amazing. Brows will generally be brushed upwards, giving them a feathery, fluffed look. Brow lamination works on all skin and hair types, and is a great solution whether you are dealing with sparse brows that you’d like a fuller look to, or unruly brows that you’re hoping to tame.

Brow Lamination Aftercare: 48-Hours Post Treatment

The 48-hours after your lamination are essential to ensuring your brows are able to set and the solutions applied have the ability to fully work before being washed off.

There are a few things that are important to avoid post-lamination, and a few other tips and tricks to care for your brows along the way, and ensure the lamination lasts.

What To Avoid After Brow Lamination

After your brow lamination, it’s important to avoid getting the brows wet for at least 24-hours. At the end of your appointment, a regenerating cream will be applied that should sit on your brows for at least 24-hours to ensure moisture returns to the hair and they keep the shape they’ve been set in.

For a full day following your treatment, avoid washing your face, working out, or any moisture, steam, or heat. Keeping your face cool and dry will help ensure the best results. If you generally sleep face down, try sleeping on your back for the first night post-treatment. Sleeping on your face could cause the brows to be disrupted as they are setting into the chosen shape. It’s also important to avoid touching your brows, so as to not disrupt the setting process.

How to Care For Your Eyebrows After a Brow Lamination

48-hours after your lamination treatment, you can begin applying a castor oil or another hydrating balm to the brows. In the mornings, I recommend using a styling gel OR our Brow Naturale Brow Soap. Brow Soap is a conditioning, contouring brow wax that will give your eyebrows the full, feathery look you desire.

Once your brows have set {after that 48-hour period} keep up with the shape by gently brushing them into place each morning. After you shower, while your brows are still wet, I recommend using a spoolie to brush them up and into place, allowing them to “set” for the day. To keep up with your brows shape, I recommend scheduling your appointments about 6-8 weeks apart.

Common Questions After Eyebrow Lamination

Can I Get My Eyebrows Wet After a Brow Lamination?

For the first 24-hours after your brow lamination, it’s important to avoid getting your eyebrows wet, whether that is from washing your face, working out, or precipitation. The solutions used to set your brows in place are still working their magic at this point, so keeping them dry is important for best results.

After the first 48-hours, you can shower, wash your face, or feel free to take a dunk in the pool as you please. After the brows get wet, you can always brush them up with a clean brow spoolie to once again set them back into place.

Can I Apply Makeup After a Brow Lamination?

We recommend avoiding any makeup 48-hours post lamination, especially since you’ll likely need to wash your face to remove the makeup and you should avoid getting your brows wet while the solutions are still setting.

Does Brow Lamination Hurt?

Brow lamination is a pain-free process! Prior to applying any of the chemical lamination solutions, I apply a barrier cream to the area around the brows. This helps to protect even the most sensitive skin from any irritation from the lamination solutions. Throughout the lamination, it is possible you may experience a bit of tingling on the skin around your brows, but it will not be painful.

How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?

If you follow the proper brow lamination aftercare directions, your lamination can last as long as 8-weeks!
