Brow Lamination: Our Most Asked Questions

One of my favorite simple beauty fixes that saves you time on the daily is a brow lamination. Giving you perfectly fluffed brows, a brow lamination is a great option for my girls looking to simplify this holiday season (& all year round). Whether you’re a regular lamination fan or you’re new to the world of semi-permanent beauty treatments, I’m breaking down some of the most asked questions I hear from my clients every day.

What is Eyebrow Lamination?

Eyebrow lamination is one of the most popular semi-permanent beauty treatments available on the market. Essentially a perm for your brows, eyebrow lamination allows your brows to be shaped into a perfectly fluffed form that lasts about 6 weeks. If you are a fan of the soap brow look or love a fluffed-up brow, lamination is the time-saving solution you’ve been looking for.

What Does Brow Lamination Do?

Brow lamination is like a brow lift or a brow sculpt that gives you more refined, fluffed, and perfectly shaped brows for around 6 weeks with little maintenance in between treatments. While there are a lot of brow treatments that can be invasive, like microblading, brow lamination gives you the look you want minus any of the pain or long-term commitment. The lamination essentially breaks down your brow hair follicles and allows them to be reformed into a straighter shape, taking out any gaps, curls, or cowlicks that prevent your brows from being shaped without plenty of gel, soap, and effort on the daily.

What is the Step-by-Step Process of Brow Lamination?

I love to perfect my processes, and brow lamination is certainly no different. When you get your brow lamination done at Gameela Skin, it’ll look something like this:

  • Wax, Shape, and Prep: Each brow lamination begins with a bit of cleaning up. If needed, I’ll wax your brows to remove any stray hairs and shape them to your preferred style. Once they’re perfectly shaped, I’ll apply a skin barrier cream to protect your freshly waxed skin from the lamination solution.

  • Permanent Gel: After applying the protective barrier, I will apply the first solution to your brows. This solution, the permanent gel, works to erase the chemical structure of your eyebrow hairs, essentially removing any curl, cowlicks, or any other natural shape your brow hairs normally take. I’ll place a piece of saran wrap over the solution and let the solution work its magic.

  • Neutralizing Cream: Once the permanent gel has done its job, I’ll remove it and apply the next solution, the neutralizing cream. This solution repairs the bonds broken by the permanent gel and sets the new direction of growth for your hairs. This step is where I’ll actually direct the hair and shape your brows to give them the fluffy and perfectly shaped look. Like the permanent gel, I’ll apply a piece of saran wrap, and the neutralizing cream will be left to set.

  • Regenerating Cream: Once your brows are perfectly placed and the neutralizing cream has been removed, I’ll apply our final solution, the regenerating cream. This solution will help replenish any moisture that was lost throughout the lamination, leaving your brows looking refreshed.

Most Asked Questions about Eyebrow Laminating

How Long Does the Brow Lamination Process Take?

The brow lamination process takes about an hour and could be shorter or longer depending on how long the solutions will set based on your hair type. There’s a lot of downtime throughout the process while the solutions set, leaving you plenty of time to sit back and relax during your brow lamination.

How Much Does Eyebrow Lamination Cost?

At Gameela Skin, an eyebrow lamination costs $75. Many clients choose to get a tint done while they get their brows laminated, which costs an additional $30, making the total for a brow lamination and tint $105.

What are the Pros and Cons of Brow Lamination?

The major pro of brow lamination is the perfectly shaped brows you can achieve with minimal effort. However, if you’re not working with a trusted esthetician, there are some important cons to consider. For one, if the solutions are not applied with precise timing or without proper protection, they can be an irritant to the skin and potentially damage the eyebrow hairs. Each client's brow hair type and condition requires a customized approach to ensure the solutions are left on for the right amount of time, preventing any harm to the hair or skin. Regular lamination without a regenerating solution can also dry out the brow hairs, leading to damage.

At Gameela Skin, I use only the best lamination products, including a regenerating cream and a protective barrier cream, and apply them with professional expertise to avoid any negative side effects and ensure a safe, beautiful result.

How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?

A brow lamination can last anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your hair and aftercare routine.

Is Brow Lamination Worth It?

Brow lamination saves you time and effort on your brows for more than 6 weeks, leaving you with perfectly shaped brows right out of bed. I think ~waking up like this~ is always worth it. Getting to relax in the salon while getting your lamination done is also a major bonus.

The Benefits of Eyebrow Lamination

A noticeable benefit of eyebrow lamination is the look—it gives you a naturally fluffed, fuller brow that’s hard to achieve otherwise. While brow lamination makes it much easier to get that laminated, groomed look, I still typically recommend using a brow soap or gel to help shape and hold the hairs in place.

Unlike other eyebrow treatments available, brow lamination is non-invasive and not permanent, meaning you can change your look in the future if your style changes. If you’re looking for a lower-maintenance daily routine, the benefits of eyebrow lamination are unbeatable.

What Does Eyebrow Lamination Aftercare Involve?

While maintenance is easy once your lamination has set, there are a few key steps to be aware of in the 48 hours post-lamination to ensure you get the best results. For 24 hours post-treatment, be sure to avoid any moisture on your brows. This includes sweat, washing your face, or even getting too close to a steamy stovetop. I also recommend clients avoid sleeping on their face or using a face mask for 24 hours to avoid smushing the hairs and disrupting their shape. After 48 hours post-treatment, I recommend my clients start applying castor oil to their brows to help hydrate the hairs.
