Spring Skincare Changes to Make Now

While you should never skip out on SPF {especially living in Arizona} once the spring & summer months hit, you should be lathering on the sun protection.

Outside of SPF, I’m sharing my favorite skincare tips to take you through the transition from winter to spring seamlessly.

Spring Skincare Tips

We’ve had a lot of rain lately, but typically, Spring is the season of sunshine and spending more time outdoors. Your skin goes through a lot during this time period! We’re going from a dry, cold winter to a more humid, warmer spring in just a few weeks' time. Add in the sun’s rays and potential pollutants that we’ll be exposing our skin to outdoors, and it’s no wonder our skin tends to act up. Here are my tried and true tips to transition your skin from winter to spring with minimal problems:

Swap Heavy Moisturizers for Serums

On any given winter night, you can catch me lathering my face in the thickest and most moisturizing face lotion I can find. Applying these heavy moisturizers on a sweaty, sticky, humidity-kissed face does NOT have the same effect. So, when spring rolls around, I prefer to swap the thick moisturizers for a lighter serum.

Gel-based moisturizers are a great option for a product that will easily be absorbed into the skin, but I love going even lighter and leaning into my favorite serums. Serums work double time to help improve overall tone and texture while moisturizing your skin in a refreshing and light manner.

  • For Blemish Prone Skin: Rhonda Allison Blemish Serum. The Rhonda Allison Blemish Serum includes a blend of salicylic acid, Totarol, and green tea, which will support problematic skin concerns gently and effectively. This serum is perfect to freshen up your skin for spring, without drying you out or getting rid of your natural glow.

  • For Dry or Dull Skin: Rhonda Allison Brightening Serum. This serum is TRULY what you need if you want your natural glow to shine through. I cannot overstate the benefits of this product. By nature, it is a potent pigment-reducing vitality serum. It is one of the best products to treat dark spots, uneven pigmentation, and melasma.

Apply SPF. Always!

I talk about SPF year round but especially as we enter into the warmer months. The rule of thumb: If you are leaving the house, you have to apply SPF. While it’s very exciting to see a high number of moisturizer and foundation options that are being formulated to include SPF, I always dedicate a layer to strictly sunscreen.

I highly recommend Rhonda Allison Daytime Defense SPF. In addition to providing SPF 30, it’s formulated with Zinc Oxide to provide a natural sun barrier.

The Rhonda Allison daytime defense works perfectly for the face and body, making it the best two-in-one option that will work to protect your whole body from the sun’s harmful rays.

Add Toner To Your Skincare Routine

As the temperature warms up, we might all begin to notice a little more sweat on our brows. To combat the pore-clogging qualities of sweat {& Any additional pollutants we might be facing}, I recommend adding a toner to your skincare routine.

A toner is an excellent last step in your cleansing routine and provides the final double-check to ensure that any and all dirt, makeup, oil, grease, or sweat have been removed. It gives you the perfect base to apply your other skincare products on top of while making sure your skin is primed and prepped for maximum absorption.

My favorite toner is the Green Tea Tonic by Rhonda Allison. Perfect for many different types of skin, this all-purpose skin toner helps cleanse your skin and balance the appearance of oil. It provides antioxidant support, thanks to one of my favorite ingredients {green tea}.

Schedule A Dermaplane

A dermaplane = a fresh start for your skin. Dermaplaning exfoliates the skin to remove dead and damaged skin cells, leaving you feeling good as new.

A few additional benefits that come with dermaplaning:

  • Rid your skin of peach fuzz

  • Exfoliation allows skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin, meaning you’ll be getting the most out of your skincare routine.

  • Promote an even skin tone when done regularly

  • Improve hyperpigmentation and discoloration of the skin

Dermaplaning is non-invasive and involves no chemicals, meaning you’re ready to get back out there immediately following your appointment. If you’re ready for a fresh new face for spring, schedule an appointment for your dermaplaning today!
