The Importance of a Daily Skincare Routine
Picture this: You’ve just finished up a facial treatment with your esthetician. You hop in the car, flip open your vanity mirror, and stare at yourself for a good 5 minutes wondering when that acne spot will clear up. Don’t worry, you’re not alone in this.
Here’s your reminder that skincare results don’t happen overnight (or in a single treatment). Real results take time, effort, and consistency with your esthetician and your at home skincare routine.
The 80/20 Skincare Rule
Although nothing can take the place of your monthly facial or dermaplane, your skin goals can’t be achieved with that alone. Did you know that 80% of your results depend on your at home skincare routine, while 20% come from professional skincare treatments? Yep! We don’t stock our online shop with Rhonda Allison for no reason - we use these products to help YOU create a customized at home skincare plan to address your concerns and prevent breakouts or anti-aging.
Your at home skincare routine should help your skin look and function at its best, while also troubleshooting the areas you want to improve. For example, acne, dryness, dullness, hyperpigmentation, etc. The three most important products in your daily skincare routine should cover the following:
Cleansing - keep your skin clean!
Hydrating - give your skin the nutrients it needs.
Damage Prevention - make sure to wear your SPF to prevent aging.
Depending on your goals, you should be selective in what products you choose for your at home skincare routine. Many brands, such as Rhonda Allison, formulate different products to address various skin concerns. IE if you’re hoping to clear up acne, there are products with specific active ingredients that are made to combat these skin concerns.
This is why we recommend against blindly purchasing products based on reviews or online beauty blogs, as everyone has different skin types and concerns. You should be selecting products that contain the proper active ingredient to address your concerns.
For help creating a skincare routine, contact our esthetician! Our team will get to know your skin type and skin concerns and we will formulate a custom plan with products to use on the daily.
Choosing Skincare Products for your Skin
In the meantime, we know you’re questioning what your skincare routine should look like. There are countless variations of skin types and concerns - but we’ll address a few of the most common challenges we see on a daily basis.
Acne Prone Skin: For those who need a skincare routine to combat acne concerns, you’ll want to lookout for products containing ingredients such as Salicylic Acid and Glycerin. Combined, these ingredients help shed dead skin cells, decrease inflammation, and heal damaged skin. We recommend checking out Rhonda Allison’s Acne Remedies skincare line.
Anti-Aging: You know the KEY to anti-aging is to not leave home without applying your sunscreen! In addition, you’ll want to look out for products that contain Retinol or Retinyl Palmitate. These ingredients are used to prevent and treat fine lines and wrinkles. You must be consistent with these products for about 4-5 months before you are able to see results. We recommend checking out Peptide Serum and C-Peptide Complex by Rhonda Allison - these are both great products to address your anti-aging concerns.
Hyperpigmentation: Similar to anti-aging (and for all skin types or concerns) you should be applying sunscreen at the end of your morning skincare routine to avoid hyperpigmentation. To help reverse existing skin discoloration, you should be looking for products that provide antioxidant support and all the hydration. We recommend using Naturalè Mega Brightening Serum by Rhonda Allison - it’s formulated to help brighten your complexion from previous sun or scarring.
