Fall Skincare Tips

It’s that time of year again! Oversized sweaters are hitting the shelves at Nordstrom and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are finally back on the menu at Starbucks. Yep! Whether or not it feels like it outside, the Fall season is HERE! In most areas around the world, this time of year brings cooler weather and a drop in humidity (unless you live in Arizona 😅). This can make for drier conditions & in turn, drier skin. In the beauty world - this is the perfect time of year to reassess your skincare routine which is why we’re giving you all the fall skincare tips. As we’ve mentioned in the past, just as your wardrobe changes throughout the season, so should your skincare.

Keep Your Skin Moisturized

When the summer humidity drops off and the air is drier, your skin is at a greater risk of losing its natural moisture. This can result in dry and itchy skin. We recommend increasing the use of your daily moisturizer throughout the fall and winter months to keep your skin hydrated. We recommend the Ultra Replenish Cream by Rhonda Allison. It’s formulated with the purest and most potent form of hyaluronic acid, L-Sodium Hyaluronate and Cassia Betaglycan which increases moisture by 300%!

Use a Humidifier

When the temperature drops outside, we turn up the heat inside - which can be another threat to your skin. Luckily, you can boost the hydration inside your home with the help of a humidifier. A few of our favorite humidifiers are the Dyson Air Multiplier and the Honeywell Cool Mist Humidifier. When shopping for a new humidifier, try selecting one with a tank that can last a few days so you don’t have to add water every night - this will increase your chances of using it as frequently as possible. We recommend turning it on an hour or so before you go to bed so the moisture has a chance to circulate the room.

Exfoliate - But Don’t Over Exfoliate

While you want to continue to exfoliate to reduce the build up of dry skin, you don’t want to overdo it with glycolic acid or retinoids. Over exfoliation can create small cracks in the skin barrier and lead to even more loss of hydration and irritated skin. We recommend exfoliating about twice per week during the colder months. If you’re looking for a new exfoliator, we recommend the Mandelic Perfecting Polish by Rhonda Allison. Its granular exfoliations and acids help eliminate bacteria and build up without being too rough on the skin.

Wear Your SPF

Oftentimes we hear our clients admit that they forget to apply SPF in the Winter months because it’s not as hot outside. SPF should be a part of your skincare routine all year-round - not just during the summer when you’re in the pool or at the beach. As always, we recommend using Daytime Defense SPF 30, apply it in the AM with your skincare routine.

A drop in temperature doesn’t mean you have to suffer from dull or dry skin. There’s plenty of time to apply these Fall skincare tips to keep your skin glowing through the Winter holiday season.
