Top Product Picks for Summertime
If you’re an Arizona native, you’re likely over summertime and the triple digit temperatures that come with it. We’re with you! 🙋♀️Unfortunately, we still have a few more high temperature months to endure before we indulge in fall flavored foods and remember why we love living in the desert. Okay… maybe we’re being dramatic? Let’s remember the pros of summertime: extra time-off with the kiddos, time spent by the pool (maybe with a cold drink in hand), family vacations, & I’m sure there’s more we’re missing.
The cons of summertime: getting burned by your leather seats every time you get in the car, clogged pores caused by sweat and humidity, dry skin due to higher temps, the missed spot on your back when applying sunscreen… 😜 Ouch!
While the pros can outweigh the cons, the summer months can sometimes sabotage your skin and * your overall lewk *. We’re sharing a few summer skincare essentials that will help carry you through the end of summer.
Top Sunscreen Products
It’s 2022 - there should be no doubts about applying sunscreen in any season. It doesn’t matter the time of day, whether or not you’ll be leaving the house, or if you’ll be wearing a hat - apply your SPF! We recommend making room in your bag for the following sunscreen products:
PowderMe SPF — This powder sunscreen by Jane Iredale will help you transition from the pool to happy hour with minimal effort! Not only does it provide a tint of makeup coverage, but its lightweight, broad-spectrum coverage provides your skin the protection it needs! (Bonus: It’s water resistant for up to 40-minutes)
Daytime Defense SPF — This is our favorite sunscreen by Rhonda Allison for everyday use! This SPF can be applied to your face, neck, chest, back, etc. It’s clean, mineral based, and formulated with Zinc Oxide to provide a natural sun barrier (helping you avoid damage from those strong sun rays). It’s also extremely easy to reapply throughout the day as it’s lightweight and not greasy, leaving behind no streaks or residue!
Top Lip Products
Don’t overlook lip protection! Your lips need protection from the heat, humidity, etc. - just the same as the rest of your skin. The good news: these essentials can easily be stowed away in your purse, beach bag, or back pocket.
LipDrink Lip Balm — Hydration + sun protection + shimmer all in one. Summertime or not - this product is a staple! This antioxidant-rich balm provides broad-spectrum SPF-15 and is a recommended option by The Skin Cancer Foundation. Bring this guy to the pool or dinner - you will not be disappointed! Bonus - it comes in three different colors.
Lip Service Gloss — For the lips that might have already been impacted by dry weather or the sun, Lip Service by Patchology will be your savior. This product is formulated with vitamin b3, goji berry and honey for a strong dose of hydration. It’s the perfect product to apply after a long day spent outside. Pro tip: Apply just before bed to help your lips repair & hydrate overnight.
Top Hydrating Products
Drink your water - we know. Staying hydrated in 100 degree weather is easier said than done. We fill our water bottle up every morning and still feel dehydrated come the end of the day. Our favorite product to help us stay fresh and keep our skin hydrated:
Hydra Soothe Spritz — This cucumber Hydra Soothe Spritz by Rhonda Allison is a great way to cool off your skin! We recommend spritzing yourself with this product while you’re out and about in the hot weather OR if your skin is recovering from a sunburn. The combination of heavy water and other humectants provide the skin with the much needed moisture content that is lost throughout the typical day (especially if your skin is recovering from too much sun exposure). Bonus: it can be applied over makeup without causing any of it to fade.
We recommend throwing this product in your bag for the pool, beach, or even while you’re out running errands.
Top Eye Care Products
The skin under and around your eyes is highly sensitive. It’s much thinner than anywhere else on your face (or body) as it doesn’t contain as much fat. At the end of the day (after rubbing your eyes, applying product, etc.), we recommend showing your eyes some love too.
If you’re dehydrated from the sun - your eyes will likely be the first part of your face to show it. Combine a pair of our Bubbly Eye Gels by Patchology with a quick cold-roller session. The eye gels will help brighten and hydrate your tired eyes, while the cold roller will work to de-puff, calm inflammation, and help your skin absorb any product. We recommend following these self care tips before bed at least once per week!
