Eyelash Tinting 101
Eyelash tinting has gained significant popularity in the beauty industry over the last few years. Not that we’re really surprised… lash tints basically create the illusion that you’re wearing mascara, without actually having to apply mascara. I don’t know about you, but if there’s something we can do to make our morning routine just a little bit easier, you can bet we’re signing up!
Think about the last 365 days! Work meetings have turned into Zoom meetings, happy hours have turned into FaceTime dates, and although we’re slowly getting back to normal, the thought of putting makeup on just doesn’t sound as appealing as it used to. With all that said - if you’re new to eyelash tinting and you’ve been thinking about giving it a try, we’re dropping some facts so you know what to expect!
What Does An Eyelash Tint Do?
Lash tinting is like a semi permanent dye job for your hair, except it’s for your eyelashes. At Gameela Skin, our esthetician will carefully dye the hair with a safe and natural tint to give your lashes a darker more luscious appearance without the use of mascara. If you have blonde or lighter colored eyelashes, a lash tint will definitely give your eyes more of a dramatic look. If your lashes are already darker (black or brunette) you’re not going to see as much of a noticeable difference, but it will still replace the effort of applying mascara.
What is the Lash Tinting Process
The lash tinting process is pretty short and sweet - you should be in and out of the salon within 30 minutes. Before our esthetician actually applies the color to your lashes, we’ll make sure to cleanse the surrounding area to remove any dead skin, dirt, or loose hairs. We’ll then select your tint color to best compliment your skin tone and hair color. After we’ve selected your color, we’ll mix the tint and apply it directly to your lashes. The tint will sit for about 10 minutes, we’ll clean off your lashes, and that’s it - you’re done!
How Long Does an Eyelash Tint Last?
A lash tint will typically last about four weeks. Although the tint itself is permanent, your new and un-tinted lashes will grow in! As this happens, you’ll notice your lashes start to lighten to their original color. In effort to help your lash tint last as long as possible, we recommend keeping your eyelashes dry in the first 24 hours following your appointment. Avoid showering, makeup remover, sweating, or standing over the steamy and hot oven!
Does Lash Tinting Hurt?
No! We are HUGE wimps when it comes to tolerating pain - so we can assure you, lash tinting does not hurt at all. The most discomfort you might feel during your treatment, are the protective shields we place below your lash line.
How Much Does Eyelash Tinting Cost
Like all beauty treatments, the cost will depend on where you live and the salon you visit for your service! At Gameela Skin, you can expect to pay $40 for a last tint alone. Are there Side Effects of Lash Tinting?
While eyelash tinting is a safe beauty treatment (when done by a certified professional), there can be potential side effects. Side effects can include possible eye irritation or allergic skin reactions. At Gameela Skin, prior to your appointment we will take note of any known client allergens to avoid a potential reaction. If you do experience redness, irritation, or any sort of side effect following your treatment, please consult your esthetician ASAP.
